PHANTOM CONJECTURES AND PLAUSIBLE INSANITIES:
This is the first in a series of possible projects by a loose collective of creative individuals who might in their current guise be described as an Avant-Prog band. In a future iteration this label may prove to be no longer applicable or at best unreliable. Thanks in no small part to the contributions of Colin Potter at ICR studio and Quentin Rollet for unknowingly fronting the band on so many tracks.
MORE OFTEN THAN ALWAYS… LESS OFTEN THAN NEVER.
Paul Dirac was a theoretical physicist who developed a version of Quantum Theory in which every state had probability… probability one being that the event always happens; probability zero meaning that it never happens. In this “Alice in Wonderland” world every state happens “more often than always or “less often than never”. Einstein regarded his contemporary as “balancing on the dizzying edge between genius and madness”. The scientific imagination which frames such an uncertain reality, thus leaves open creative potential for phantom conjectures and plausible insanities.
FUTURE REMINISCENCES (ALZHEIMERS’ ANONYMOUS).
A similar frame of reference might be applied to those debilitated by neurological disease, where disorientation and memory loss lead to an ever increasing detachment from ‘everyday’ reality.
BROADCASTING TO THE UNSEEN.
Seemingly incomprehensible coded messages passing through the aether on shortwave radio bands to person or persons’ unseen. These transmissions of number sequences by exotic and often synthesized voices across public communication to very private individuals implicitly carry in their inane delivery, sinister undertones that defy interpretation by all but the intended recipient.
